Hacker News NewTab

Back in 2019, I was learning React and wanted to build something actually useful (for me, at least). I found myself checking Hacker News way too often, so I figured—why not just put it on every new tab?

It’s pretty straightforward: opens a new tab, shows you the current top stories from HN. Updates every 15 minutes or so. No fancy features, no analytics tracking your every move, just the feed.

Honestly didn’t expect anyone else to use it, but somehow a few people have installed it and it’s been quietly doing its thing for the past 6 years. Still works, still gets the occasional update when the HN API changes or Chrome breaks something.

If you’re the type who keeps 47 tabs open and ends up on HN anyway, might save you a click or two.
